The Monikins

A satirical expedition to a land ruled by intelligent monkeys provides a mirror to the absurdities and failures of human government and society. Through this imaginative and often biting allegory, Cooper mocks the political and economic theories of his time with surprising wit. It is a rare and creative departure from his wilderness epics that offers a sharp critique of human vanity.
